Robin Goatey

Robin is a periodic John C Campbell Folk School instructor, woodcarver, Woodturner, broom maker, folkways instructor. He is also a student of folklore, metallurgy, spinning, tapestry weaving, glass making, ceramics and lapidary work. The main focus of his artisan practice and his life is making heirloom quality, hand made items, based on the Ancient Guild Trades.  Also sharing the Folkways skills learned over a lifetime. 

He is a past president of the Artisan Guild of Southern IL, as well as an award winning craftsman participating in the global marketplace for handmade goods.  He and his beautiful wife Theresa  established ‘The Dancing Goats’ craft business in 1987 and have been online since 2000.  The Dancing Goats mix of practices and technologies encompass a concept called, ‘The Craft Pyramid’, a necessary model for success in the traditional craft space that can be replicated based on knowledge and experience of a chosen craft.  He is available for teaching engagements nationwide in e-commerce studies and traditional craft practices. He is also a studio member of ‘The American Tapestry Alliance’ and ‘The Hand Weavers Guild of America’.
